Hi, I’m Jennifer Wang – an absolute knit and crochet amigurumi enthusiast.
I design uber-cute toy patterns for beginners and advanced beginners, with a focus on clear, simple instructions, plus plenty of pictures to help you out!
I admit, it’s scary to put your work out there to be judged by others, but I just can’t help myself. I want to make, even if it’s just to keep my hands busy. I want to create new, beautiful things and to share this magical ability with others.
More than that, I want knitters and crocheters to fall in love with the idea that they can turn their hobby into something truly inspiring, and that their gifts are capable of touching lives and transforming hearts around the world.
A beautiful handmade toy can make all the difference, and there are so many wonderful movements dedicated to providing toys for specific causes. For example:
- Last Cuddles Bear Project provides miniature bears and other tiny toys to be used in free photographic shoots for angel babies. The bears are given to the parents as a gesture of love, and provide a small means of comfort during this devastating time.
- Knot Forgotten aims to share the love of Jesus with children of the persecuted church by creating and delivering hand-knit and crocheted toys. The group was founded as a response to the Syrian refugee crisis, and has since expanded to include children from all over the world. The message is one of love and joy, and to let each child know he or she is not forgotten.
Moving forward, I want to highlight movements and stories like these in addition to selling and sharing patterns and telling my own stories. I am passionate about the power of handmade toys, and I believe that by creating dolls and sharing what I love and believe in, I can reach and enrich the lives of people around the world.
I am inspired by makers who wake up every day with a mission, and who live their lives with passion and purpose. This is something I strive for, (although I often fall short!). My main focus is on thinking of ways I can use my gifts to serve others in a way that glorifies God. For this reason, I plan for my designs to reflect my values of love (1 Corinthians 13) and empowerment, with a special focus on women and children, plus related charities and causes.
I can design. I can create. But I should never lose sight of what is most important to me, and that is my relationship with my Saviour. It is through Him alone that I am able to bear anything – be it good fruit or the weight of my own cross.
Wishing you much love and success on your toy making journey!
